7/13- Goodness Abounds

So many small, wonderful things happened this week!

For starters, my friend Kate (remember her from DC last summer?) came to Fort Bragg for the week and stayed at the Allen’s!

It was so wonderful to see her again, catch up, and savor one another’s company! Whether getting coffee together or walking and talking within the neighborhood, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with her!

Thursday, on the way home from work, a pretty rough storm blew through, to the point that I decided to stop within my commute and wait for the weather to calm down.

I had noticed this joint in the past weeks commuting through the town it’s in and decided to give it a shot!

I was not disappointed in the least. For starters, there was this couch-bench and an open table tucked in its corner. That was my spot of choice to read and snack!

One of the yummy things I got was some shrimp cocktail. Very yummy!

My favorite thing was definitely the Mexican street corn dip though!

An hour and a half in, the storm had subsided and I made my way home. It was a making lemonade-out-of-lemons scenario, and boy was that lemonade yummy!

When I arrived home that evening, the housemates (plus Brianna and Kate) proposed we go out for milkshakes. So, we piled in the car and drove to Cook Out.

Love me some good ol’ spontaneity!

Before going into work each morning, I have been working out at a CrossFit box near my office. Two ladies, Chasity and Raheleh, started about the same time I did and we all go to the same 6 AM class. Them be the makings for friendship, folks.

Friday evening, Raheleh hosted us at her beautiful home for dinner and it was a great time getting to know these workout buddies a little better!

Saturday was a full and sweltering day, but also a really special one too.

Our chapel Bible study group all got together and spent a majority of the day walking around base, praying for the soldiers on Fort Bragg.

We then rejoined at the Allen’s house that evening and prayed over the region and the nations!

It was a great time spent with brothers and sisters in Christ, whose hearts are tender for people!

Each week here has been so sweet. Despite long commutes or car troubles, I really am so thankful for this time and am trying to savor it.
