6/13- Champagne Campaign

*a blog post for my fifth week here didn’t get written. Not much happened because I was prepping for this week*

The highlight of this week was absolutely throwing my childhood friend, Melissa, her bachelorette party.

We’ve known each other since third grade and were thick as thieves all throughout elementary, middle, and the beginning of high school before our family moved to Ohio.

Over the years, we’ve kept in touch and tried to visit each other once a year. Last year, during one of our visits, she sweetly asked me to be her maid of honor for her wedding on August 4th.

I gladly accepted and the adventure began.

Thursday, I headed out from Worcester to trek to Charlotte, NC where the bach was taking place.

Seeing as how the trip takes 14 hours in total, one of my dear friends from DC, Carly, opened up her home to me. It broke up the monotony of the trip, both to and from, and gave me a light at the end of the tunnel of the day.

Friday night was spent getting to know each other as the girls flew and drove from all over the place to take part in the festivities. We played games and enjoyed spoiling our friend.

Saturday, we did an escape room! Melissa and her fiancé, Cody, love doing escape rooms together (in fact, it’s how he proposed to her!), so it seemed only appropriate we’d all do one in celebration of their nuptials.

We escaped in time and had plenty of laughs along the way.

Saturday night, we all got gussied up and headed out to Roxbury, an 80’s/90’s-themed bar, that several of the ladies had heard good things about!

They had a theme and they ran with it.

Between a disco ball, glow sticks, song-titled drink menu, and a bangin’ playlist, I felt like I had ventured back in time.

We were a solid crew.

After three hours of partying like it was 1999, we returned back to our hotel and soon retired to our rooms.

Sunday, I returned to DC, saw some more familiar faces, then Monday, left for Massachusetts.

It’s so surreal to know that Melissa will be a married woman in a matter of days. Gone are the days of macaroni-cheese-making and sleepovers. However, I look forward to the sweetness of this next season and all that it contains for her.

Stay tuned for part two of the festivities in two weeks!
