*I’m so sorry this is just now getting posted!*
3 weeks left. 15 days of work, 20 days of life left here in San Francisco.
I am absolutely blown away by how the time has flown. My weeks are so packed between work, exercise, friends, and the day-to-day that when I look up, I can hardly believe another week has gone by!
I’m inching towards the time when I’ll start seeking out another assignment. I’m taking time off in between to visit family and friends in Ohio, so I don’t expect to find my next assignment for a few weeks.
However, I did have one assignment pop up on my radar, but whether I’m in the running for it all depends on whether they’re willing to wait a little longer than the start date they were originally asking for. Either way, my next assignment isn’t far off and I’m thrilled to see where I’ll be going next!
The biggest perk of this week was my sister’s arrival for the weekend! She has been working so hard at school and is taking it all by storm! After a year of long studying nights and finals, she was due for a vacation. So, she came out here to visit me!

Saturday was when our adventures began. We started out by going out for brunch at Brenda’s, a French soul food restaurant! We each had a coffee, a beignet, and split a delicious bowl of grits with crispy pork belly. We were both fans.

We then made a stop by a familiar house along the way. Christina, being herself, was much more interested in the neighbor’s dog than the house behind her.

As we were making our way to our next stop, we saw a beautiful wall of greenery along one of the streets we drove on. This is how the exchange went down:
Christina: “Look at that wall! That would make some good pictures!”
Me: “Yes, it would!”
Big Booty Judy: *pulls over into parking space*
It was hard to choose a favorite from all the shots I took. I mean, we’ve got this.

And this.

Oh, and this one.

She didn’t do too shabbily either.

After a couple more shots, we hopped back into BBJ and made our way to Pier 33 to grab our tickets for our trip to Alcatraz!
We arrived pretty early, so we wandered over to Pier 39, picked up a few SF T-shirts, watched the sea lions, and just enjoyed being with each other as we killed time.
Finally, we boarded our boat and made way to the Rock.
See, I had always thought that what made Alcatraz so famous, besides housing infamous gangsters, was the fact that no one had ever successfully escaped from it. WRONG.
Christina had watched a documentary on it beforehand, so I got all the deets right as we were walking up to the cell house!

A view of the city I’ve called home for the past ten weeks from the prison. How terrible must it have been to have only a mile away between you and a life of freedom?
Sunday, we went out to breakfast with Jen at a French bakery called b. patisserie. I didn’t indulge in any tasty treats, but man, did they smell yummy!
We then headed to Muir Woods to check out the Redwoods! It was so beautiful and felt like I wasn’t in a park, but wandering through an enchanted forest!

That evening, Christina left.
I treasured the time we spent together and the conversations we had. We have grown closer as time had gone on and have come to appreciate each other. I love having a sister and I love having Christina as MY sister.
