5/13- A Week of Infamy

This week brought on the kind of excitement that grays hair.

To start, on Monday morning, I left my apartment in a state of mild disarray: unmade bed, clothes scattered across the floor, sink full of dishes, and cluttered counter. However, when I came back from work and CrossFit that evening, I came home to a made bed, clean floor, empty sink, and organized counter.

Fixed to my spot, three thoughts went through my head:

1.) “Is my mom here?” (Of course, I ruled that one out pretty quickly)

2.) “Someone has stolen my stuff…and cleaned up afterwards?” (worrisome, but honestly, not as scary as my third thought)

3.) “Someone was in my apartment and they may still be here” (This one caused me to drop my stuff and run up to the landlady to get some answers)

Turns out, a cleaning service is included in the rent and she just forgot to tell me.

Tuesday, the work crew went out to eat for lunch at a Thai restaurant. I ate a dish called Thai Sukiyaki, which is made with low-carb noodles and was positively delicious!

Eating out while working with my nutritionist has been an amazing experience. He has been so kind to look at the restaurant menus and guide me in what meals I could have that wouldn’t completely throw me off track (and that hasn’t included a salad at least once so far)!

It has made me feel a lot better about going out, even on my refeed days, because I know that I’m able to spend time with coworkers and friends without casting aside all of my developing health morals.

I also learned Tuesday that my application to become a BeneFIT Brand Ambassador had been accepted!

What does this mean? First, let me tell you about who BeneFIT Medical Apparel is.

They are a veteran-owned company that specializes in scrubs and activewear, in efforts to support those both active in the healthcare field and active to live healthy lives!

They posted about seeking healthcare professionals to promote and inform others about their company and products. I was on board from the start, as I had already bought two pairs of scrubs from them and loved to talk about the company whenever I got compliments while wearing them!

I’m so thankful for the support I’ve already gotten so far from family members and friends since announcing this! It is so appreciated and overwhelming.

Saturday was a rollercoaster of a day. Big Booty Judy (my Nissan Rogue) has an inspection scheduled that morning, so I walked outside of my apartment and…BBJ was gone.

That’s right, the car curse made another appearance. I knew that the two options were either that she had gotten towed or stolen. Seeing as how she is full-figured and San Franciscans seem to be more into mopeds and tiny electric cars, I was gripping onto the hope that she had been towed.

I was right.

Her bumper was slightly edged over into the neighbor’s driveway and well, it is clear how they felt about that.

Like a knight in shining armor, I faced the dragon called Impound, defeated it with a $500 sword, and rode away with BBJ into the sunset…then released all the pent up emotion and had a good cry.

The adventures didn’t end there however, though what followed was much more pleasant: I got to meet up with a friend from Ohio who moved to San Mateo, a city twenty minutes from SF!

We caught up as we ate lunch, then spontaneously got our nails done at the salon right next door to the restaurant! Though the restaurant is known for their pastrami, I felt like I made out like a bandit with their seared tilapia sandwich (which I had bunless) with mac and cheese as a side. Like I said, Noah, my nutritionist, does not steer me wrong.

What a week, right? Twice I thought I had been robbed, got to join forces with an awesome company, and was scanning babies all throughout it!

After times of high stress, sometimes in the midst of them if I manage it, I try to focus less on all the things I could have done to avoid what happened and focus more on what is to be learned from them.

This go-round, the takeaway was that God does provide and He provides well. He provided me with the budget to financially manage the towing situation. He provided my parents health, so that they are still around for me to call for help and comfort. And yes, He even provided me with a car that is dependable, efficient with gas, and spacious enough to haul my belongings in.

BBJ and I will figure this whole San Francisco thing out eventually.

I love you, you crazy girl.
Only you would find praise in being towed.
Keep that attitude and enjoy scanning those precious babies.
