The first pair of scrubs I ever bought were for clinicals back in my college days. They were the required navy blue color and as standard as they come: unflattering, made out of stiff material, and expensive.
I rationalized back then that I would wear them enough to get my money’s worth out of them, so I bit the bullet and spent the money. To be fair, I was true to my word. I wore those suckers for four years, resigned to the fact that this uncomfortable, overpriced uniform I didn’t even want to wear was to be my garb for the next forty years, Lord willing.
Then, BeneFIT Medical Apparel and I crossed paths.
BeneFIT is a veteran-owned company that specializes in making scrubs and activewear. They had commented on one of my Instagram posts, so I checked them out and loved the sound of their products. So much so, I asked for a BeneFIT giftcard last Christmas.
Boy, was in for a treat! These scrubs are so incredibly comfortable and completely conducive to the hustle-and-bustle life of a healthcare professional!
The three things I think are most important to any healthcare professional when choosing scrubs is: comfort, longevity, and functionality.
Comfort: my old scrubs are made of that cotton material that stays stiff, regardless of how many washes it has gone through, and needed to be hung up to avoid wrinkling. Even then, sometimes I’d have to quickly stuff them in the dryer for a few minutes before leaving for work in the morning due to wrinklage.
My BeneFIT scrubs have been hung up, folded, even left on the floor overnight, and are consistently unwrinkled. Their athletic material not only resists wrinkles, but also liquid! It provides the flexibility and mobility throughout the day that makes me worry less about looking like I literally rolled out of bed and focus more on getting the job done.

Longevity: Anyone who works in the healthcare field knows that what we do isn’t clean work. We are constantly on the move and are hands-on throughout it all.
As a sonographer, while I’m not as at risk of getting blood or vomit on me during the average day at work, I am always getting ultrasound gel on me. It gets on my pants, my shirt, even in my hair! That stuff has a mind of its own, I swear.
Because of this, my scrubs are always making an appearance in my laundry basket. When my scrubs from college were the only pair I had, they were getting washed regularly. As the months went on, the color began to fade from a rich navy blue to a dull one. Loose threads became more frequent and slowly but surely, they were falling apart.
Now, since my BeneFIT scrubs are my favorite scrubs to wear, they are frequently getting washed. After months of washes and wear, they still look as new as the day I received them! No fading, no unraveling, no over-stretched material.
Not only do the BeneFIT scrubs stay true to their original condition, but their lasting quality also makes every dollar you spend worth every penny!

Functionality: My old scrub shirt has two pockets on the front and my pants has a hip pocket on each side. That’s it.
That may be fine for jeans or a sweatshirt, but as healthcare professionals, we have all sorts of tools that we need constantly on our person: pens, pagers, medical scissors, notepads, hair ties, bobby pins, the list goes on! Just a couple of pockets aren’t going to cut it!
My BeneFIT scrub shirt has two pockets on the bottom front, a breast pocket, even a pocket on the shoulder! My scrub pants have two hip pockets, two pockets along the side of my thighs, and two butt pockets! Now, THAT’S what I’m talking about!

I am so sold on these scrubs that I volunteered to become a Brand Ambassador for the company, which basically entails me endorsing them as a company and the products they create! I’m not saying this from the heart of a salesperson, but from the heart of a customer: if you give these scrubs a try, you will not be disappointed. They will seriously blow your mind and raise the bar on what scrubs should look/feel like!
