This week has been a great one! Workwise, the transition from learning the ropes to working independently has been smooth-sailing!
When I started here, I began by shadowing the other sonographers in the department. This past week was moving from scanning patients with them in the room to being left to my own devices! It feels great to be able to stand on my own two feet again!
Midweek, I went out with the other sonographers to a hole-in-the-wall Irish pub. They had Angry Orchard on tap and some yummy Fish and Chips, so it wasn’t hard for me to jump on board.

Friday night was the highlight of my week, hands down. I visited KitTea Cat Cafe, but came primarily for the Cat Lounge, which is a room filled with 10+ cats that I got a whole hour to snuggle and play with!
The place was covered in cat puns and play-on-words, as exhibited by the wall decorations and menu.

I ordered the “Dolly Purrton”, which was a savory spin on waffles! Between two Belgian waffles was a smothering of goat cheese, arugula, and strawberries (oh my!), all drizzled with a balsamic vinaigrette.
(Trust me, it tasted as good as it sounds).
I also tried Genmaicha, one of the four teas that are bottomless for anyone that makes a reservation for the Cat Lounge. It was super earthy, which isn’t really my go-to in the world of tea.
I guess you could say that it wasn’t my…cup of tea (buh duh tiss).

If Webster is looking for a picture to put beside the word “bliss”, I’m pretty confident this one would be a contender.

The Cat Lounge was set up so that there were cutouts in the walls and shelves for the cats to survey and explore on.
This guy was a particular fan of the jungle gym (but not of getting his picture taken apparently. Look at that stare!)

I could tell these cats were accustomed to making themselves at home. They would lie down on tables, chairs, bean bags, and pillows all over the room. They did as they pleased (as most cats do), whether it was playing with a toy, taking a snooze, or visiting the litter box.
Despite half of these cats being rescues, all of them were very calm around me and the others in the room. They mingled so well with the permanent residents, I couldn’t tell which was which. It was evident that they had gotten used to being petted, picked up, and played with.

Pickles, the newest and youngest resident, became very interested in my camera strap. She was adorable.

My visit was so sweet! I was starved for the attention of a cat.
I had the best cat in the world for a year before I began traveling. Unfortunately, I had to give him away because he hated being in the car, which is not conducive to my career. Luckily though, he got to return to his original owner who loves him dearly.
Remembering you today, Jasper. No cat snuggles better than you, bud.

People have been so helpful in providing suggestions for restaurants/destinations during my stay here, which I truly appreciate! Shoutout to my mom for finding this place and knowing me well enough to know I’d adore it.
If you have any you’d like to add to the bunch, reach out!
