Day 5: Sacramento to San Francisco, California

We’ve done it. We made it to San Francisco.

We stayed the night last night in an adorable Tudor on Airbnb (and the owner said she is looking for short-term tenants, if anyone is interested). We departed to grab a quick bite, then made our way to San Fran.

The drive went smoothly and before we knew it (quite literally. It came out of nowhere), we were crossing the Golden Gate Bridge. I have to say, after years of watching films, I half expected Godzilla or a Kaiju to rise up out of the water and snap the bridge in half like it was nothing.

Luckily, a monster rampage wasn’t part of our first day in Fog City.

After unloading everything from Big Booty Judy, I had the pleasure of meeting one of my neighbors, Michelle. She taught me that #itsacaliforniathing to turn Judy’s front tires in towards the curb (to keep cars from rolling) and that a Safeway is just a few blocks away! Nifty, right?

On the way to stock my pantry and fridge, I snapped a pic of a passing street and the nearby beach. Literally. A. Minute. Away.

Tonight was spent eating dinner on my back porch and taking in the view of the sun slowly tucking itself into bed behind the horizon.

It’s been a lovely trip. Not only have I gotten to see a chunk of the country I hardly ever thought I’d see, I got to experience it all by riding in my MVP of a car with my first-place, gold-star, prize of a mom.

Mom. She’s the one who orchestrated our stops, clocked out our travels, paid for my meals, and hyped me up for living in San Francisco. She was a fantastic travel buddy and I’ll hate to see her go home.

I’m in San Francisco, ladies and gents. Let the adventure begin.
