14/23- A Week of Note

Ever have one of those weeks that were so jam packed of exciting, new, and wonderful things? That at its end, as the adrenaline high begins to fade, all that can be done is to tiredly collapse on the nearest, comfiest piece of furniture and smile upon its reflection?

Then, my friends, you understand how I have felt this past week.

Where do I start? Perhaps with my move into my adorable Airbnb, where I’ll be staying for the remainder of my contract in DC? Or maybe my house-warming party, where my temporary home was filled with the kind of people that bring warmth to your soul? Or maybe even with seeing Twelfth Night, one of my favorite Shakespearean plays?

It was all so good, so noteworthy, so affecting. Honestly, even beyond words in a lot of ways.

So, I took pictures!

I’ll include some captioning to explain their significance!

(Despite being on the move, I wanted to being some Christmas cheer into my sweet little home. Here is a sweet little tree my grandpa made and gave me to decorate my apartment with. It’s made out of dyed wine corks, push-pins, and a spray-painted cat can! So DIY, am I right?!)

(One of my life philosophies is that any moment that a Lord of the Rings quote is applicable is a moment that should be taken advantage of at its fullest. My house-warming party was no exception.)

(My sweet friend, Elizabeth, gave me a bouquet of flowers to grace my home with. She didn’t know this, but my favorite flowers are roses and daisies, which make up a majority of the bouquet! Flowers are always a win in my eyes, people!)

(This is such a treasured gift. A couple people of my friends gave me a map of DC from 1912, on which are marked several DC spots that are dear to my heart: Gallaudet, Capitol Hill Baptist Church, and my little Airbnb.)

(Games are fantastic. Learning new games is fantastic. Learning new games with fantastic people is fantastic. Placing second in new games is less fantastic, but I hardly noticed because…you guessed it…I had a fantastic time.)

(The Sidney Harman hall is where Twelfth Night played. How beautiful are those lights, am I right?)

(If you aren’t familiar with Twelfth Night, the story begins with a shipwreck. Well, this performance was set in modern-day, so it began with an airplane crash. I didn’t know they were going to modernize the set/wardrobes when I bought the tickets, but I was delightfully surprised!)

(This was the program. Isn’t it pretty? What’s cool about this is that the woman on the cover is the actress who played Viola! There were pictures like this of all the different cast members throughout it, which made it feel like the intimate, fun-loving troupe that I have no doubt that it was.)

Do you understand my dilemma now? How could I possibly adequately describe the glories of the week in a single blog post? Well, if pictures truly are worth a thousand words, then I think I found a loophole!
